Public libraries across the country have transformed “geek” from a noun to a verb. Campaigning that whatever you “geek” is what you love or know best, the Online Computer Library Center, along with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is encouraging communities to use their local libraries to learn more about what they love.
“The library supports your passions and interests,” says Mary Stein, assistant director of administrative services for the East Baton Rouge Parish Library. “The library’s got good stuff and is waiting to share it.”
The campaign also encourages readers to log on at geekthelibrary.com and submit blog posts that “show off what you geek.” The campaign began in January and will run for 18 months to coincide with the completion of the new Main Library on Goodwood Boulevard. ebrpl.com
